The formation of Trio with piano merits an important position in the literature of chamber music from the beginning of the Classical period, as it features in the work of Haydn and Mozart, where the piano is clearly the dominant instrument, and that of Beethoven, who chose this very formation with its great expressive potential to make his debut in the area of composition. In Romanticism there are great masterpieces for the piano, violin and cello written by Mendelssohn, Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Schumann and Dvorák, a tradition that found a great 20th century exponent in Shostakovich.
With a vast repertoire at their disposal, Trio Desassossego formed only recently but have already won the 2013 edition of the Young Musicians’ Prize, and are performing for the first time at Casa da Música.
