East Foyer

Localização: Piso 4

At the top of the stairs lies the East Foyer. With a huge ceiling height (almost 56 feet high), it is a fundamental space for conveying natural light into Sala Suggia which receives the whole of the sunlight through a large window with wavy glass panes that Rem Koolhaas had already used in other projects but never in such an ambitious scale. The importance of the East Foyer reveals itself also by allowing a social appropriation of the building, seeing that it enables passers-by in Rotunda da Boavista to establish visual contact with the main concert hall of Casa da Musica.
