Ben Street estudou no Conservatório de New England, em Boston, com Miroslav Vitous (Weather Report) e Dave Holland, mudando-se depois para Nova Iorque, em 1991. Tocou com músicos notáveis como Danilo Pérez, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Roswell Rudd, Lee Konitz, David Sanchez, James Moody, Mark Turner, Frank Foster, Clark Terry, Junior Cook e Jimmy Scott, entre muitos outros. Na sua discografia contam-se álbuns de Kurt Rosenwinkel (The Next Step, The Enemies of Energy, Heartcore), Danilo Pérez (Til Then, Live at the Jazz Showcase), David Sanchez (Coral, Cultural Survival), Ed Simon, Anthony Coleman, Shawn Colvin, Cyndi Lauper, Ben Monder Trio (Dust) e Billy Hart (Billy Hart Quartet), além de Guilty com Ethan Iverson, Jorge Rossy e Chris Cheek.
