Debussy's music for the ballet Jeux is an open door to the sublime, with new traits that have inspired generations of other composers, especially those with a tendency for avant-garde languages. In this concert, which begins with a recent arrangement of this brilliant piece, the Remix Ensemble shows us the ethereal music of the Lithuanian Justė Janulytė, an award-winning composer who has the habit of exploring a single type of instrument in each piece, building very gradual sound transformations that challenge our sense of time. In the second half, Orquestra Barroca joins the virtuoso violinist Ilya Gringolts to interpret one of the fabulous concertos by Pietro Locatelli, an 18th-century composer who questioned the boundaries of the impossible in the technique of the instrument.
